Update on Job Evaluation and CSCI pay award

1. Job Evaluation

As at 18 December 2006 the position is as follows;

Number accepting CSCI terms       1,902

Number rejecting CSCI terms                   121

Number of Appeals                         168

Number of responses outstanding     233

All employees who have accepted the new CSCI terms should have received their revised salary and any back pay in either November or December pay.

We have sent a further letter to those who have not yet returned their option form indicating whether they wish to accept CSCI terms or remain on their existing terms and conditions. It has requested  that “If you have not already returned your option form, it would be helpful if you could sign and return it as soon as possible.”

We have commenced the appeals process, which involves joint management/trade union panels, and are intending to give priority to appeals for those employees who may transfer to Ofsted.

It is planned that all job evaluation appeals will have been heard by early February. We will contact colleagues to advise them of the outcome of their appeals as soon as the outcome is known.

We  hope that you will appreciate that it is not possible to deal with individual requests about progress on appeals.

Annual pay award

We have received the annual pay claim relating to the September 2006 award from the trade union side.

CSCI is covered by Treasury Pay Remit arrangements which require us to secure Department of Health clearance for the total paybill increase which results from the annual pay award and progression increases. The level of annual salary review will be affected by the cost of the progression arrangements in September 2006 and, hence, the importance of us knowing the numbers accepting the offer of CSCI terms and conditions.

We are still assessing the cost of implementing the September 2006 progression arrangements and will be having  further joint discussions on 17th January 2007.

We will issue a further briefing to update employees on progress on these joint discussions.

Those employees who have rejected the offer to transfer to CSCI terms will be entitled to the annual salary review in accordance with their previous terms and conditions and the arrangements set out in the offer letters.

If any employee has any query regarding the annual salary review please contact the job evaluation mailbox.
